What took soooo long....it's only been, what a year.
Re: Encore gets one list and a new pay scale.
WB announcement will be next. A330? B777-200? B767-300?

Hi
As advertised, slowly but surely things will continue to improve. I think this is a great step forward.
Wide body talks are done, a final draft of language is now in play (and almost done to roll out). The pilots will have to vote on it yet.
Mum on the type
What will be tough is all the work maintenance has to do now. That takes a huge amount of time. A year is what I hear (if all goes well) to get it on our certificate.

off to yxl now...

I hope that the final product matches the stated intent.DaveP wrote:Hi

As for new fleet types - Jazz added a B757 in just 8 months from program commitment to certificate approval. I am guessing that WJ will have to use the TC wet leases again for winter 2014/2015.
FWIW - I would stick with Boeing.........
Re: Encore gets one list and a new pay scale.
that's good news.
it might too early to say, but when the WB fleet begins international ops, will it be 100% crewed by WJ or will there be a need for direct entry Capt & FO ?

I'm sure there won't be any DECs. It's not like there is a lack of experience in either seat at WJ.

Dare to dream my friend. Only a matter of time.

Using TC for 2014/15 was always planned as it's the last year of the contract.rudder wrote:I hope that the final product matches the stated intent.DaveP wrote:Hi

Re: Encore gets one list and a new pay scale.
Pilots are so easily distracted by shiny things. The wide body aircraft negotiations are great but Encore isn't going to operate them and therefore will have no affect on WAWCON. It's a nice carrot for down the road, but that is all it is. If you`re at a good airline and only fly a 737 Max for the rest of your career, wouldn`t that be almost as goodÉ
I'm sure that the WJPA are working hard but what has actually changed? The one list is a nice change. It likely should have been around since day one, but this is being fixed and a good compromise. It still has to be voted on by both pilot groups. It would be shocking to see it voted down by either group.
The new pay scale that was released was the 2 & 4% cost of living increase. The policy of valuing employees 10% less than the competition remains in place, as does valuing Encore at half of a WestJet employee in as far as a retirement plan goes.
Also, if I read the WJPA communication the way I believe it reads, flow won`t be increasing beyond the 25%.
Overall, it's still a good place to work but it seems to me that anyone who came here thinking that things would get better over time might be disappointed. No one I know expects things to change overnight but we have had a chance to have management review all of the major policies affecting WAWCON and thus far, we have a 2% raise, a westjet seniority number and outright "no" to all of the other suggestions for improvement. I don`t see any of these policies being reviewed again until next year`s compensation review. At that time, deliveries will have slowed down and we`ll be better able to keep up with hiring.
