Jim I believe that is the Canuck that is being restored by the museum in Langley. They're not making much progress though

We are hoping Santa brings us either, http://www.realflight.com or http://www.phoenix-simv3.com for Christmas.
These things are pretty amazing and we have already saved thousands of dollars in crashed planes just messing with the demos at the hobby shops.

My latest effort, SN 15 CF-FHA, done in Whitehorse Flying Services colours for a friend in Whitehorse. The wings are attached temporarily and will be removed for shipment.

My Modelcraft Norseman is pretty sad compared to Siddley Hawkers efforts but here you go. It is 1/48 scale with corrected landing gear , struts and Whiskeyjack Decals. CF-SAM (full scale) is in the museum at Moose Jaw.

I finally finished my Norseman.......7' wingspan, flies like a real one with a 17cc gas engine. (chinese).
Beef, The sim is a great way to learn! I know lots of guys have taught themselves the basics of flying r/c with the computer simulator. I have an old one that I play with a few times during the winter

Nicely done R/C Norseman! My ventures into the world of radio control was back in the dark ages (1960's) before proportional controls..relay sets by Graupner and everyone on 27 mhz. But it was fun

Nice Noorduyns guys.
I'm building a second Beaver for the same guy, SN 55 CF-FHZ. Here's what the cockpit looks like. Those instrument decals are from Airscale in the UK, available at Ultracast in Guelph. Barney is that guy from Whskey Jack back in business?

Jim: No he has disappeared. His art work and decals were extremely good and I wish that I had more of them

I never knew we had such outstanding model builders here. My efforts in plastic modeling always invite some sort of disaster but I have built a lot of stick and tissue airplanes. I haven't really finished many of them but I do a lot of building...
Howard 'Pete' racer, 13" wingspan.
Taylor J-2 Cub, 12" wingspan from a plan originally drawn in the 1930's.
Aeronca Champ, 10" wingspan built from a late 1940's Guillows kit.
Monogram SpeeDee Bilt Stearman, built from a reproduction of the original balsa and plastic kit. This series of models pre-dated injection molded plastic kits.
Percival Mew Gull, 12" span from a reproduction of a kit originally sold in the 1930's. Clearly a work in progress.

lownslow those models are great. I've built a few of the Guillow (sp?) ones, back in the distant past. Never did that good a job on them though. The impatience of youth took precedence over quality of finish.
TG that's one of those 1:24 snap together models from deHavilland Dreams. Apart from the instrument decals, what you see there is scratchbuilt from aluminum flashing, wood and plastic scrap.

Are you going to make the reservoir, flap selector, and hand pump to go under the pilot's seat SH?
Geez did I say that....? Or just think it....?

Here is the latest from the "factory". A 1/32 scale Williams Bros Gee Bee Z..a very old kit but nicely detailed. The cockpit received extra attention but with the tiny canopy in place you cannot see what is in there.
The pic with my Grumman gives some idea of the size of the GB..they both have close to the same wingspan.
So here's a question for the experts...The Grumman flies at 135 mph on 115 hp...the GB does 260 mph on 535 hp...How fast would the Grumman go with the same power as the ugly flying barrel?

Another superb job on that GeeBee there Barney.
You'll have to forgive the inaccuracies. It's from memory and I haven't flown a Beaver since 1974.Are you going to make the reservoir, flap selector, and hand pump to go under the pilot's seat SH?

Man! When do you guys find time to drink beer?
Re: Hobbies - What do you do/make? - Post Pics!
You guys are truly amazing.
I cant get over the detail and craftmanship. That beaver seat and cockpit are outstanding, as are the models... I tried making a model once..glued my fingers together trying to get the big glob off the canopy.
That you guys make them from scratch is incredable.
Do any of you make models of aircraft engines?
