Now for my top three pet pevees of fellow pilots

Number 3) "Niner"

Number 2) "Fife"

And my Number 1 pet peeve of fellow pilots..... "Tree"

All jokes aside ive never used Fife or Tree and cringe after the 1st time I used Niner. Niner is semi acceptable.

My "My brother" moment always come when ATC say altimeter 30.00 or 29.99 and the reply is "3 triple 0" or " 2 triple 9" those are my people.

There's the right way as published by ICAO (like above) And lots of other ways.

Take your pick.

Yeah, and 100 km/h is the speed limit on the 401. This falls into the "If you follow this rule you're a nerd"

When a non-aviation person asks I say Air Canada Express ( its way easier than explaining how the whole system works). If someone in aviation asks then I tell them Jazz.

My pet peeve is that Morning Star guys voice

Sure but not everyone has English as first language or fly only in North America.

Personally I always forget about niner and fife but I’m a big culprit with “Tree”
And not only on the radio

He probably said "thrity ought six" It is a rifle caliber. like 30/30 and three oh eight. There are lots of places that nickname certian numbers. You can think its cool or hate it. Don't care, but some people do it. Cheap suit = 29.92 (altimeter or UHG 299.2 Winchester =30.30 inches altimeter or 230.30 UHF. Think you can see where this is going.

Pilots that can't read back a freq, and punch it in at the same time. Sweet. Merciful. Crap.

ATC: "XXXXX 435, Hows your ride?"
FO: "What should I tell him?"
ME: *Face palm* Good thing you're qualified to be here.

Pilots that don't use a mic muff, and breathe into the boom and have no clue that it makes a noise through the intercom. I pity your wife. (its always guys)
Pilots that half ass their briefings because they've been working here for a million years. Let's hope they don't pull the tapes.
Pilots that don't pull out the checklist and even just pretend to read it. Especially if its the first time we've flown together.
Pilots that play on their phone during the crew briefing. I hate you.
Pilots that make you clear customs so they can hack a dart. Ahhh....ok, I get it. But c'mon man.
Management Pilots that would sell out their line pilots for a performance bonus. Bonus points if they boast about how they "Fly the line."
Pilots that constantly humble brag that they own a boat. You're the worst.

Most of the guys and girls are effin sweet to fly with, but it's not fun to vent about how great work is.

Pilot: “I’d like to request ........”

Are you tellling ATC that you are requesting it or are you telling ATC you want to request it but you just bring yourself to request it? For god’s sake just say “ ..Flt xxxx ...requesting.....”

Can’t stand hearing : tree, fife or niner. Only noobs use those words.

I’d love to bitch slap the idiots who seriously say “on guard”. Monitoring guard has become a real pain in the ass over the last decade or so. Rumour is that Delta is to blame as they se3 themselves as the guard police.

Another peeve is guys who say their pet peeve is pilots saying:” Air Canadas flt xxxx”. If you listen hard you can here the apostrophe. As in “Air Canada’s flt xxxx”

"Traffic on 126.7 in the vicinity of lake tatamagoosh, this is a blue Cessna 172 C-HATY at 4000 ft, 120kts heading east on a VFR flight plan between Sumspot and Nutherspot with a stop at middlespot. We should arrive at sumspot in 30 min with 4 souls on board and an extra 2 hours of fuel. Traffic in conflict contact Cessna 172 C-HATY on 126.7"

That and only topped by the response:

"C-HATY this is Cherokee 140 C-LONR at 9000 ft no where near you so there is no conflict!"

“Checkin in”

Not acting professionally at the gate in front of passengers.

Pilots speaking fast English and using non standard language on the radio confusing the sh*t out of a foreign ATC.

Using HF radio in 2018.

People that constantly talk/complain about work even on a layover.

3 hour PA’s to the passengers explaining the atomic composition of the universe for our arrival, specially on a regular short flight mostly occupied by business travelers.

Did I mention “checkin in”

Ggn 1900 pilots wearing a different uniform with the ugly eauplettes than the RJ drivers. Some sort of an inferiority complex happening at ggn.

I love the Morning Star guy! Sounds like the number of f@$cks he gives every day is 0.

My pet peeve was the YSB FSS guy who would make you reread the clearance if don't say "airport."
YSB: "Cleared to Toronto Pearson Airport, depart RWY..."
Me: "Cleared to Toronto Pearson, depart RWY..."
YSB: "Negative, confirm its Toronto Pearson AIRPORT, depart RWY..."

He also used Fife and Tree. But as far as MANOPS was concerned (or whatever they use in FSS), he was correct.

Getting hit by jet-blast or prop-wash. Every now and then it’s impossible to avoid, but most of the time it’s lack of awareness.

People touching things without asking or touching things they shouldn’t be. Interpret as you will. Seriously though, when is it ever a good idea to touch stuff painted red or with black/yellow stripes? Even in nature that means F*ck off....evolution has failed some people.
