What kind of watch do you wear?
Hey, someone had to ask it.
Seriously though, I have a nice Citizen that I got as a gift a couple Christmasses ago. It has all the basic functions I like including a date window and the EcoDrive is pretty interesting in how it charges the thing and will never need a new battery. The only downside is the black anodized finish hasn't held up well at all.
So what have you got?

Same as yours, going strong after 4 years. The faded black bracelet doesn't bother me. If I had to change it, I would buy the exact same one. Auto-adjusts time via HF (I think?), no need to change battery, durable.

Another vote for a Citizen Eco-Drive Nighthawk.
I ditched the rubber bracelet for a steel one and been wearing this watch for a out 8 years. Hasn't lost a tick!
Also don't think I've ever used the E6B bezel. haha

Ollech & Wajs Mirage 3 (Valjoux 7750) on a NATO strap, had it for about 6 years, great watch.
Re: What kind of watch do you wear?
Coleman analog with the fancy digital timer going 5 years strong. It really is true, you get what you pay for....best 19$ I have spent.

Citizen Skyhawk AT, with stainless steel bracelet. Had it since 2011, and very happy with it.
As for the bezel, never used it either.

Yep! Citizen Skyhawk AT with the Time keeping option. Flew over the world, haven't seen a much easier watch to setup to a new time zone so quickly! Have it since 2007. If I ever change it, it will be for the new Citizen Eco-Drive Satellite Wave-Air.

Japanese made Pulsar PW6009. Not overly cluttered like most aviation friendly watches and paid only $100.

Pebble Time. I can change the watchface to anything I want, or program my own if i'm so inclined. Cheapest smartwatch available that's actually got some smarts to it.

A big one - with really small hands!
Everything has an end, except a sausage, which has two!
Re: What kind of watch do you wear?
I've never been a fan of the expensive watches. Have a Breitling and it can't keep time..... It's more a collection piece rather than a watch in the proper sense. Certainly not going to use it for flying because of that.

Tritium illumination is the use of gaseous tritium, a radioactive isotope of hydrogen, to create visible light. Tritium emits electrons through beta decay, and, when they interact with a phosphor material, fluorescent light is created, a process called radioluminescence. As tritium illumination requires no electrical energy, it found wide use in applications such as emergency exit signs and illumination of wristwatches. More recently, many applications using radioactive materials have been replaced with photoluminescent materials.
Cheap rugged and always visible! I really like Luminox!

Our Ops manual specifically requires a watch to be worn in the uniform standards. I suspect might be the same at other airlines. Kinda silly to have to fish a phone out, then press something just to bring the time up, when a glance will do...ahhhh progress...although I do realize most folks have a phone glued to their face 24/7 lol!
Oh yeah. A Tag that was a gift from the g/f. To answer the question of the thread. I was happy with my modest Citizen but she thought I should have something a little grander. And I have to admit I love it.
I’m still waiting for my white male privilege membership card. Must have gotten lost in the mail.
Re: What kind of watch do you wear?
A bit of trivia: the very first wrist watch was made at the request of the pioneer aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont. He felt it was kind of silly to have to fish a pocket watch out, then flip open the cover just to see the time, when a glance would do. No idea if some people at the time had their pocket watches glued to their faces 24/7...complexintentions wrote:Kinda silly to have to fish a phone out, then press something just to bring the time up, when a glance will do...ahhhh progress...although I do realize most folks have a phone glued to their face 24/7 lol!
Re: What kind of watch do you wear?
I have a Seiko that my folks bought me 13 years ago when I got my license. It's nothing special but I'm pretty fond of it. I would like a D2 Bravo though.
