Have you seen what it costs to live in Australia?sstaurus wrote:70K for DH8 FO?? Where's the catch... or is that really the going rate in the rest of the world
Sydney makes Vancouver look like a bargain.

Ah, well in that case maybe it isn't the sweetheart deal it seems on the face of it...

Re: Australia
Who says you have to live in Sydney? What's the catch ? FFS
Have you seen what it costs to live in Canada? So I guess 35000 to 50000 is perfectly fine for a F/O position here? It's true what the rest of the world says about Canadian pilots.

Re: Australia
It does? Seems about on par to me: http://www.realestate.com.au/buy/proper ... ?maxBeds=4 You probably don't have to deal with heating in the winter, and that's twice what Jazz or Encore is offering...rudder wrote:Have you seen what it costs to live in Australia?sstaurus wrote:70K for DH8 FO?? Re: Australia
Living cost on par with Canada, house prices generally less depending on where you want to be (Auckland and Sydney not ideal, much like Van). Qantas and Air NZ both pay in that ballpark for cojos on regionals, $85-$95k with per diems.

Re: Australia
So, did anybody here attend this interview in YVR?
Am curious to hear how things went! I was invited but declined as my wife is fairly happy in the current setup! Happy wife = happy life!

Re: Australia
Started off in the Dash 8 classic sim, depart YVR, steep turns, ILS, missed approach, NDB approach. Pretty straightforward. Interview followed, no tricks. Waiting to hear back.
Re: Australia
Was this for dash 8 typed people only? Or was it for any kind of turbo prop?
Re: Australia
Don't let the Aussie folks get wind of this on PPRUNE or they'll have a fit.
