Unreal to have gone to having to place a free ad for applicants for what is, or was, one of the most sought after jobs in this country.
What a business, can we all finally leverage the times we're in.

Re: Westjet ad.
Puzzles me why they can’t just open the flood gates and flow as much Encore guys as possible to fill their void
Re: Westjet ad.
I feel like the requirement for OTS has dropped. Maybe, just maybe, it's because there are hundreds of teenagers at Encore ahead of qualified applicants.
Re: Westjet ad.
At least they’re asking for an ATPL ...
In twenty years time when your kids ask how you got into flying you want to be able to say "work and determination" not "I just kept taking money from your grandparents for type ratings until someone was stupid enough to give me a job"

Re: Westjet ad.
I know that you're being sarcastic, but some people on here are going to take it the wrong way.
Encore doesn't have enough qualified FOs to upgrade to captain to fill in the spots that would open. They can't send Encore FOs to mainline because the people who have the most seniority (and who are bidding) are captains.
Re: Westjet ad.
And the sad reason why many of these Encore FO’s can’t upgrade to the left seat at Encore is because they’ve been too lazy to write their A’s! True story.

Bullshit. That may be the case for a few, but it all comes down to the company being reactive and not proactive. They got themselves into a position that they realized and started to maneuver out of last year. There are a lot of new low-time pilots that need to fly for two years to gain the experience to meet the matrix for the upgrade.

Re: Westjet ad.
When your FO’s in the first 2 years are making 1200$ semi-monthly paycheques, or 1600$ if they plan on working right till they die. With the current market and 703/704 capts making double that, there’s no choice but to leave no stone unturned.altiplano wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 8:35 pm viewtopic.php?f=7&t=136911

Re: Westjet ad.
If you're sub 40 years old this is a fantastic opportunity. Do it, do it now.
Unless this is a bait and switch tactic to get you into an Encore or Swoosh spot.

Re: Westjet ad.
The Encore and WJ MECs and negotiating committees need to approach their management and suggest all sorts of ways to sort out the problem.

Re: Westjet ad.
Sad reality is that WJ pilot job/career is nothing special compared to other professional flying opportunities that are available to both new and experienced commercial pilots.
WJ management need to take a good look in the mirror. A couple of shiny 787’s don’t make up for the inferior WAWCON that affects most of the WJ pilot group.

15k gross per diems, I’ll save the whole per dimes aren’t pay argument but you must be doing a ton of overtime for that. I work a 16 day month full of 3/4/5 day pairings and the odd overtime single day. Typical per diem cheque’s are 600-800$ range at most.DropTanks wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2020 4:47 pm$62.09/hr +20% esp or whatever it’s gonna be called going forward. I figure my per diems are $15k gross equivalent. They say we still get profit share at ??? rate. Also $7300/yr replacing stock options now. That’s pretty much it.CanadianPilotQc wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 9:52 pm in the meantime where can we find WJ CBA ? Whats the starting salary for an FO?
Re: Westjet ad.
He did say 15k gross equivalent, so in Canada that’s about 10k net, easily doable
