Cancelled and delayed groundschools
Well that escalated quickly. Huge hiring boom to an expanding list of cancelled and delayed groundschools. I'm hoping to start a list here so we can keep track of how everything is still going.
So far I've heard sky regional cancelled their groundschool.
Possibly WestJet and encore cancelling groundschools after March.
Porter groundschool at end of March cancelled.
Any new information is appreciated

First I've heard of Porter's end of March GS canceled. Even the candidates haven't heard that.BaldChewbacca wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 6:11 pm Well that escalated quickly. Amazing how fast we can go from pilot shortage to pilot surplus.

It's not a surplus.
Companies will still need pilots they are just scared of spending money right now.
Has ANYONE been watching the markets? Literally everything is unprecedented, it's no wonder they want to put a pause on things. The volatility is unreal.

The job market outside N America has evaporated - took about 3 weeks.
Airlines are cutting 50%+ of their routes and parking 50%+ of their fleets.
Already seeing a lot of mandatory unpaid leave and some wage cuts. Layoffs on a large scale will be the next step followed by bankruptcies as Airlines run out of cash.
N America is catching up to the rest of the world.

I work for Hifly - Norwegian is a big client.
Don't think it matters who you work for - every Airline is going to take a massive hit.

You were the first person I saw sounding the alarm on this one, got my attention and I then decided to liquidate a bunch of equities. Saved me a couple grand, just wish I liquidated more. This will pass over time but not sure the long term damage to different economies. I feel Canada may fare a little worse with our high household debt, national dependency on oil prices and the people thinking they are richer then they are or where..Eric Janson wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 11:23 pm The job market outside N America has evaporated - took about 3 weeks.

Eric, I know you are concerned; we all are. But try and be a little positive OK? Some of us don't even have jobs as it is, and don't need this.

It's not all bad news. Ed Force One is still flying, that's pretty cool. Albeit in another livery.Eric Janson wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 10:28 am The bad news from our Industry is coming faster than I can type it.
