Northern Airlines Receive Gov't Funding
From CBC North
Here's what each small airline gets from $20M funding to service remote N.W.T. communities
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/north/re ... -1.5719595
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/north/fe ... -1.5676323
On a side note, heard today that CDN North is retiring and won't be replacing it's fleet of 3 Dash 8s in October, but they will still operate their fleet of ATR 42s up north.

Would be curious to know how those funds were allocated.

Re: Northern Airlines Receive Gov't Funding
Why only NWT? Were they especially affected by the pandemic compared to other remote northern operators in other provinces and territories?

Sorry, I misspoke earlier. I would be curious to know how they arrived at the dollar values for each operator. At first glance it looks like it could be operator size, but that doesn't seem to hold up to scrutiny.

Good to see smaller companies getting some money and not just larger ones.

Re: Northern Airlines Receive Gov't Funding
Only NWT airlines deserve to be saved. If you fly in the Yukon, Nunavut or fly for a "fake" northern airline south of 60N, your airline should fail. Maybe it's that all the reserves in the provinces all have road access, so airlines are unnecessary.
