In the U.S. no quarantine and maybe 10% more traffic than here?
Anyway, what are you gonna do when you arrive at destination and everything is in lockdown?

Where are the lockdowns? USA...nope...business as usual for the most part.
Caribbean? Nope.
Maybe parts of Europe.
Still many people wanting to travel and escape the winter.

This sure isn't going to help us gain the sympathy from the public.

ACA's balance sheet is very strong and can survive withought taking on credit until at least Q3 2021. The others idk. 14 day quarantine needs to go but I doubt it will increase travel demand until the media and government stop making a huge issue about a virus with a 99.6 percent survival rate.

The title of the Bloomberg article is pure click bait. If you read the article, it’s clear that the position of Calin Rovinescu and Air Canada is that government aid would be acceptable under the right terms, and that they’re willing to extend further refunds based on that.777Aviate wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 9:27 am https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/air-canada- ... -1.1524424

However, AC isn’t on the immediate brink of failure at this point, thus, there’s no reason for them to contemplate allowing the federal government to take a stake in the airline. This would obviously be the worst case for AC, and I think CR’s point stands - state ownership of airlines does not have a particularly good track record of success worldwide, thus I understand their resistance to any scenario where this is seriously considered. I don’t think that position will engender much ill will from the public - I doubt the average person would be in favour of the government taking a stake in AC either, public opinion seems to favour as limited of a sector-specific aid package as possible.

I feel like half the general public still thinks AC is a crown corp anyway

Stop breathing in those fumes from your trailor trash van you have parked on Dixon Road because Its making you delusional thinking that tourism Is the only industry affected by the covid 19 pandemic. You think people will want to travel if the 14 day quarantine gets lifted ? With what money ? People's life savings have been wiped out, people living off EI, reduced salary. Only the top 1% stay-at-home techies will be able to afford premium-priced "covid clean" flights with skyrocketing travel insurance rates while the rest of us suck it up to pay off our utility bills.FL320 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 02, 2020 6:18 pmSure in Europe they don’t have quarantine, they must stay at home and are only allowed to go outside their home within 1 km...777Aviate wrote: ↑Mon Nov 02, 2020 5:08 pmJohnnyHotRocks wrote: ↑Mon Nov 02, 2020 4:32 pm The 14 day quarantine is preventing people from flying.
Why are US airlines bleeding? Why are European airlines bleeding? Emirates is flying DXB to LHR basically empty. No quarantine restriction in the US, Europe, or Middle east but still these airlines are burning millions per day.
Ending the 14 day quarantine WILL NOT stimulate demand for travel. People in every industry have lost jobs and a lot of income and with the uncertainty with the future of the global economy people are choosing to conserve the cash they have.
An economic downturn was long overdue. This one will just hit us harder and the effects will be felt for the foreseeable future.
I totally disagree with you; I just look around and the only ones i know who are struggling at the moment are people working in the tourism industry. All other industries are working differently (or from home maybe) but they still have descent salaries. Many friends and family members even got a payrise (and they are just waiting for the quarantine to be removed to go on vacation)
Don’t trust the doom and gloom from the media.
People won’t conserve their cash for too long, most are not educated to live like that (this is especially true in North America); and the system will do all what it takes to avoid that.
Let's review some of the other industries affected by this pandemic....
Casinos and Gaming
Car Rentals
Oil and drilling
railway
Trucking
beauty
hotels
restaurants
retail,
gyms and fitness
installations
nightclubs and bars,
sports and entertainment
This only scratches the surface. By looking at the stock market one can see volatility will lead to unchartered uncertainty for the next 3 to 4 YEARS. Long-term economic Impacts will far outlast the short-term.
Hope your van is a good investment. Count on being there for a while.

Obviously nobody reads the comments sections on your airlines social media posts.
I’ll give you a clue as to what will actually get passengers flying again.

You assume EVERYONE lost their savings and jobs. Yes, some did, some didn't. There will be enough people who survived just fine and will be more than happy to get outta dodge to destress, unwind and relax once they can. I don't know a single person in my world who won't be travelling once the quarantine rules are lifted.Gulfstream5 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 10:41 pmStop breathing in those fumes from your trailor trash van you have parked on Dixon Road because Its making you delusional thinking that tourism Is the only industry affected by the covid 19 pandemic.
