What's Regional 1 Up To?

Post by DHC-1 Jockey »

Just saw several job ads for Regional 1 specifically asking for 737 experience:

Is there another Canadian ULCC in the works?

Read an aviation news headline a few weeks back they were starting up operations with a single Dash 8 but no other details.

Also heard that former (old) Cdn North management are involved with them. Maybe getting back into ACMI work...who knows?

I call it Regional '2'.

Binder is out of it.

This is "Sunward Airlines" basically. Avmax and it's Chinese ownership conglomerate. They've been sniffing around about 737s a whole bunch.

I heard that they are working on getting four 737-700s. Avmax is buying them and leasing it to R1. All backed with foreign money.
