Lots of suicides in the younger age group. Drug overdoses too. From a family member who works in law enforcement. People are getting depressed no surprise there.

Yes, we dont hear the whole story on CBC.
How many people who have had and recovered from Covid are ever shown on the news? Apparently every third person has had it, you would think they would want to tell you how well they are doing now on the news. THERE ARE SO MANY POSITIVES, lets hear there stories...

Re: What will happen to our industry?
Covid cases in Canada: 1.28 million. Population 37.6 million
Percentage of Canadians who have had Covid: 3.4
On average, 4 Canadians out of a hundred have contracted Covid.
That doesn’t take in to account many what have had Covid and were never tested.
If you follow the news, you would think that half our population has had Covid.

What are the various sim protocols going on at your companies? WJ requires a rapid test prior to entering the sim then a mask during brief and sim session.

Re: What will happen to our industry?
My opinion only, but I don't have any interest in working in an industry that permanently requires face masks. They are nasty, awkward, sweaty and uncomfortable. I can't see a persons smile or expression when off-loading, nor communicate properly during a dead-head. I always felt bad for those who thought it necessary before Covid (mostly on the east Asian flights). It seemed "dehumanizing", and it is. Whether or not it's even safer outside a pandemic is debatable, as is the efficacy of what some people call a "mask".
Our immune system needs daily "challenge" to stay healthy and robust. We got on just fine before 2019 without them, so once the virus is under control, why continue? If we do, it will be for "theatrical purposes only". The airline passenger seems to like "theater" though, if the goofiness performed by CATSA at security is any indication.

Re: What will happen to our industry?
Same here. Serious reservations about returning to work if masks, and even more so, vaccines, are mandated in the cockpit.
Re: What will happen to our industry?
There is no logical way to eliminate masks. The pro maskers are all raving about how the flu has been eliminated and they credit masks for that. So we used masks to slow covid to only 24k deaths, but we also prevented 50k flu deaths (apparently). So how could anyone who is pro mask rationalize life without a mask now. Look how great masks are! If we can stop some covid deaths we may as well make this permanent and never see flu deaths again in Canada.
The only logical way to be pro mask is to continue wearing masks forever. Enjoy your new normal! Literally if you debate masks with anyone, the pro maskers always get backed into a corner in the argument as they have this awakening that they are hypocrites and don’t have any logical reason to explain mask use, besides “follow the experts”. But now you also have 90 percent of Ontario pissed off about the so called “experts” making the decisions for our province... I hear a lot less today about how it’s important to listen to experts... that faded pretty quick this third wave.

No need to worry. Masks aren’t working that great at all. You are being exposed to thousands of germs while wearing a mask. You gotta be kidding if you think we are all running around with masks and it’s preventing exposure to germs and will impact our long term immunity. Masks have been about as effective as the covid alert app at stoping covid spread. That million dollar app spend that quietly disappeared.RippleRock wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 8:40 am Our immune system needs daily "challenge" to stay healthy and robust.

After five months of trying to secure and roll-out vaccines, 61% of Canadians haven't even had a single shot yet and only 3% of us are fully vaccinated!
Keep the dirty side down.

We certainly can't expect other countries to accept our deviation from the vaccine manufacturers directions on having both doses within weeks, NOT months. As international travellers we will be sidelined.
Not even sure that after the second dose we will be welcomed abroad as the spacing interval was too long. Oh well.
Terry Tam, JT's cronie says the vaccine doesn't offer any privilege anyway, and "health measures" will continue indefinitely. This is tantamount to her saying the vaccines don't work for Canadians, so why even bother.
To sort of quote the soup Natzi........"No light at the end of the tunnel for you". Remember to send a thank you letter to Justin, cc Terry Tam.

Worst government in Canadian history. By a large margin.

At least the lockdown and pandemic policies have been beneficial to some.

Current research indicates that having Pfizer doses 3 months apart produces 3.5 times the antibodies that the normal dosing provides.RippleRock wrote: ↑Tue May 11, 2021 6:04 pm

It isn't. It's 4 months here in Canadia-land. There is still the problem of convincing the rest of the world and the manufacturers that a prolonged interval, outside the trials that were conducted for approval, is beneficial.
Re: What will happen to our industry?
That's biting on the headline without reading deeper. Eating up what they want to sell you.
1. It's specifically older people, the study involved a delayed shot to 73 British seniors between 80 and 99. Old people have less responsive immune systems.
2. Antibodies aren't the only part of immunity. Peak cellular immune response was lower.
3. It's 12 weeks, not 3 months, not 4 months.
4. Protection between doses is still lower. That's 2 months mid-event with lower immunity.
5. The study isn't peer reviewed.

Hallway medicine, or. should we call it tent in the parking lot hospitals are the new normal.
You can take all the false positives and condemn them to these tents! Let’s keep testing more people! More tests equals more covid!
