Sitting reserve for 24 hours a day, 3 days straight. Legal?
Question for the 705 pilot's, is sitting reserve for 24 hours per day, 3 days straight a normal and legal practice?

What 705 pilot does 24 hours of reserve anywhere?
At my company, we do 8 hour reserve periods and can do up to 5 days in a row I believe, and each reserve period must be the same (all AM or all PM).

Under the old rules, it was somewhat normal, but questionably legal. Under the new flight and duty regs, no it is not legal.

They probably think the clock starts only when they call you.
If I had to guess, this is a 703 that only has a 705 oc because the aircraft they fly are too big or carry too many people.

That is not legal under the new duty regs effective last year. The maximum duty period that may be assigned is 14 hours and the start time has to be clearly defined in advance with scheduled rest. See CAR 700.70

CargoJet will still want to do it.
