Ray Romain LaBine RCAF WWII Veteran, Spitfire Pilot.
Chemist at INCO, flight instructor at Cambrian College and pilot at Sudbury Aviation. Suddenly on Friday October 7, 2011 at Allendale Long Term Care, Milton, Ontario in his 91st year. Beloved husband of Geraldine and father of Joan McNaughton and her husband Randy and the late James Labine. Grandfather of Shannon McArthur (Christian), Michael Labine and Sarah Tresidder (Geoffrey). Great grandfather to Riley and Ella McArthur. Survived by brother Maurice and sisters Rita, Lucille and Rejeanne. Predeceased by sisters Rolande and Jaqueline. The family will receive visitors at the J. SCOTT EARLY FUNERAL HOME, 21 James St., Milton, Ontario (905)878-2669 on Monday October 10, 2011 from 7 – 9 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from HOLY ROSARY CHURCH, 139 Martin St., Milton on Tuesday at 11 a.m. If desired, memorial donations to the RCL Branch 136 Milton, Ontario would be appreciated. This is some other information I was told of him:
He was pilot with the Royal Airforce and Royal Canadian Air Force 1940-45. During a reconnaissance flite over enemy territory, he was reported as missing in action. He landed in Germany in an area occupied by the allies and was able to return to England. He taught flying for forty years in his spare time and still flies. He is a Laboratory Techician with INCO Co Sudbury, Ontario.
