you dont actually pay for the ppc. they get a bond for you at the bank, and if you quit before the time you signed for, you have to pay the amount that still has to be paid. it's spread over a year, so just stay there for that time. and if you don't, well.. that's your choice.
I KNOW. that might sucks, but it is still better than actually paying from your pocket.

MCA - Everybody who has signed the bond at VAL has had to pay out of pocket. I know one person who paid $700 in interest on this bond, and VAL only gave them back $80 in interest. Only 1%... you would think they can do better than that on $8000 over one year on a GIC.you dont actually pay for the ppc. they get a bond for you at the bank, and if you quit before the time you signed for, you have to pay the amount that still has to be paid. it's spread over a year, so just stay there for that time. and if you don't, well.. that's your choice.

Ask how many guys around your base had their bank account frozen because VAL didn't pay off the bond on time when their year was up! I know 3 guys in YXL that went an entire long weekend without access to ANY money because somebody screwed up. Ooops..sorry... was all they got.
MCA, when your bond is just about due make sure you are calling the accounting office and the bank to make sure they both have the same date for the end of the bond.
A one year bond was not too bad 1 or 2 years ago when the industry was stagnant, but with the movement that there is today, I'm not sure I would sign a one year bond. And, you definately shouldn't have to pay from your own pocket!
I'll sell you my jacket, I have no need for it anymore.
