Manufacturing isn't coming back or the manufacturing we do get back will be for much lower pay, I see a much less rosy outcome than you do.

I will say, pretty much all Rookie50 and Mach1 have alluded to is not in the newpapers. It's much rosier in the mainstream rags.schnitzel2k3 wrote:I love it when people spout the same doom and gloom they read in the paper without thinking constructively and for themselves...
Agree to living within your means, budgeting, and saving (whenever possible).
Courage is the price that life exacts for granting peace. The soul that knows it not, knows no release from the little things; knows not the livid loneliness of fear, nor mountain heights where bitter joy can hear the sound of wings.

I agree too, with the last line. Most, by the stats, aren't doing so.Flybabe wrote:I will say, pretty much all Rookie50 and Mach1 have alluded to is not in the newpapers. I (try to) make decisions in my business based on tommorrows headlines, not todays, BTW......

bank of canada's governor said a rate raise is not in the pipe but rather a downgrading to negative rates. which is not announcing a dynamic economy or investments or even consuming. it means putting your money at the bank will cost you, instead of receiving your interest rate share.
Arabia Saudi is gearing up for low oil price and just increased gas price at the pump, and UAE is on the verge of introducing income tax because of decreasing oil revenues.
low oil price will certainly last.
China's 2 digits growth is something of the past.
Commodities producers are starting to retain stocks to increase prices and stop selling below production cost.(copper)
Canada's GDP growth in 2016 should be around +1.6% 2015's numbers according to scotia bank's "specialists".
some companies are buying back their own stock to artificially increase Earnings Per Share. like this they can meet target and everybody gets its bonus, even if revenue suck. why would you save cash AND dig into the debt to do that ?
the gold is flat dead. for now...
make your own connections.
personally, I think it's time to have cash to invest when everything goes sideways.

Aren't we already in negative territory, thanks to account fees?

They also advised that negative interest rates were not an option they wanted to rush into but were an option that would only be used in extenuating circumstances, I.e to restart a completely stalled economy (for instance if the so called housing bubble popped which would basically be the straw that breaks Canada's economic back).

Today has been a very interesting day, reflected in AC's stock. China devaluing its currency today is not good for a commodity based country like Canada.

That's all dependent on your business, but yes, the only one who you can blame is yourself. Which is why I prefer it than being at the mercy of the pink slip.YYZSaabGuy wrote:Sure you can: your customer(s) can fire you. It's just called going out of business, or going bankrupt. don't know what you're referring to.
