Remember the old Government of Canada VIP C-140 Jetstars
Was able to locate a gorgeous old model from the estate of a former crew member who flew both the Jetstar and the Challenger.

Used to work on the ramp in YYC and serviced these aircraft often. Met Prime Minister Trudeau the 1st and all his Cabinet Ministers. It was a very interesting time during the "Let the Eastern Bastards Freeze In the Dark" period. Spent a half hour chatting with the then Minister of Energy Jean Chretien while he waited for the Alberta Government King Air. He was genuinely curious and asked me if regular Albertans really felt that way about the Easterners.

Yup, saw those flying around quite a bit in the early 80's during my time doing work for a Provincial Government. The Government of Canada had its own VIP air division at that time as I understand it as DND wasn't involved. Also, and I stand to be corrected, didn't the G of C have a G11 for high level airways design/calibration and NAR route waypoint verification.

Yes indeed they did. The aircraft is still flying as N17KW.Old fella wrote:Also, and I stand to be corrected, didn't the G of C have a G11 for high level airways design/calibration and NAR route waypoint verification.

G'day
Here are the four Jetstars
C-FETN - This aircraft was purchased in 1970 from Eatons, hence the ETN part of the registration. It was sold in 1986
C-FDTF - 1967-1986
C-FDTM - 1972 - 1986
C-FDTX - 1962 - 1986
Cheers...Chris

I will update my website. I was only aware of the three. I will update the information I had for the Eaton's aircraft. Thank you Chris.

They should land that G2 at Toronto Island, then send in a C-Series...
"What's it doing now?"
"Fly low and slow and throttle back in the turns."

Jet stars are beasts. It's 2016 and still nothing comes close.
