What is WAWCON?

Ok. This may be a dumb question. What does WAWCON stand for? Tried googling it and searching av canada. I have seen it used many times, but don't understand the context.

Well, 7, that is generally what WAWCON is believed to stand for, and a rather common misconception.

the professional pilots and whiners use the more common interpretaion....
"what are we complaining over now."

The newer intrepretation came about when pilots realized that regardless of pay and working condtions, the management of the airline actually expected them to still work.

As they had previously wasted so much time in the cockpit disecting and properly analyzing the fault of management on every level, it was only natural that they better use this time to determine how to work less, only Monday to Friday daylight hours, and be be paid more.
This has resulted in such advances as the three tier pay system, the banishment of foreign workers so that revenue could be better spent on training rather than compensation, and of most importance, it has provided unending opportunity in the cockpit for bitching.we all know cockpit boredom is one of the leading causes of cockpit snoozing. Alert and mentally engaged pilots are safer. Much safer.

So the Acronym has been changed to reflect the modern view that pilots are being totally and unfairly mistreated.

Probably know the actual names of the switches and levers and never never say stuff, like " flip that red dohickey to on." .I salute your perception

I prefer to refer to the doohickey as the "chummy jigger". It's more technical.

While some guys swear by the "chummy jigger" I have never caught anything with them.
