Fly corporate. My kids call me mom. I have been on every school trip for the last fifteen years...well except when I was banned for hogging all the field trips!

If your SO has a monday to friday job you can at least see the days where childcare will be required in advance, but if either of you are on call in any way or end up needing weekend child care (especially on short notice) it gets ridiculous. You can literally be working for free some days.

I left the Canadian regionals for a job in China, I commute back home where my wife doesn't need to work. I work 4 weeks on 4 weeks off, there are 3/3 and 2/2 options as well if you don't want to spend a month away. Works for us, not for everyone though. We also have 3 kids, oldest is 6.
