I seem to recall that Captain Ace McCool of Downeast International Airlines had a screw ball idea that made more sense. He proposed a floating airport made of tethered barges that could be anchored in the St. Laurence River and allowed to swing into the wind to eliminate the rascally crosswind that interfered with his landing in 50 and 1/8. Did not have to use the "Have Landed" overhead light.
