How a radial engine works

Post by pelmet »

I am fortunate to be able to get some radial engine time on occasion such as yesterday on a Wasp Junior. Pulled through 9 blades prior to start to prevent any hydraulic lock damage and counted four blades on the started prior to selecting the mags on.

This two part series gives a good view of the inner workings of a radial. The guy seems to be good at woodwork as well....

That was excellent. I've never understood much of how a radial works before.

The guy is very good at teaching people.

Probably very liberal from the looks of him.

Good judgment comes from experience. Experience often comes from bad judgment.

Awesome video.

Reminds me of the clacking sounds of the counter weights when you shut one down,

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no

After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

My guess is this guy is too hard of a worker to be a liberal.

And his carpentry skills are too good. Everyone knows liberals can't do woodwork.

Carving is more their thing. If he was a liberal he would have found government funding (someone else's money) to buy the model rather than build it.

Amazing model.
