Plenty of pilots of the same mentality.
Re: Saferskies.ca, meet the lobbyists
Isn’t this something the College of Pilots (tm) should be spending its mega-PR budget to counter?
DId you hear the one about the jurisprudence fetishist? He got off on a technicality.

That's just gross. Coles notes version is "safety is expensive, email your MP that you don't want to pay for safety"

Re: Saferskies.ca, meet the lobbyists
The sad part is that I noticed a lot of comments on social media from the average joe who had clearly taken the bait. They were fearful of ticket prices going up and their local airports shutting down. The propaganda is effective.goingnowherefast wrote:That's just gross. Why am I not surprised to see that it's those terrible airlines that make up the coalition

Re: Saferskies.ca, meet the lobbyists
Email your MP but do it through their website. It's probably automated and it would be hilarious if 3000 pilots all voiced their opinion through their website forcing them to look like they support real change and soon.
Be sure to point out that Canada has the second worst duty regulations only leading Pakistan. Also, point out that 703 and 704 pilots are more likely to become fatigued because they lack the automation of an airliner and they are just as likely or more likely to kill someone due to fatigue impairment.
Edit: Damn. Their site automates the letter being sent. If you want to look up your MP though you can do so through their site. Also, at the bottom of the form letter you can see the appropriate MP's to Cc.

Just so it's clear who is the "coalition"
1) Porter
2) SunWing
3) Air Georgian
4) CargoJet
5) FirstAir
6) Pacific Coastal
So when you're deciding who you want to work for, you can at least identify the scumbag operations
This reminds me of the US Regional Airlines with their self made "pilot shortage".
Let's pay pilots crap for the "privilege to fly" and then wait, suddenly no one wants to invest +$100,000 for this line of work...

Re: Saferskies.ca, meet the lobbyists
Saferskies are a lobbyist group. They showed up to the party online 1st.
NASA says as pilot only needs 4 days (8 nights) of time free from duty to be rested if they work the recommended shorter duty days but I don't see ALPA or ACPA or safer skies pointing that out or coming to the table.
You can gave the shorter days but I want the same # of hours on duty per month. NASA says that is safe.....
Still no accountability for commuter pilots who don't use the rest periods they are provided for rest.
The new Regs actually have removed the pilot's responsibility to use the time off provided by their employer for rest purposes. This is safer??

Re: Saferskies.ca, meet the lobbyists
It is quite telling that both Air Canada and ACPA, despite their differences, have got together and produced a common critique of the proposed regulations. What is even more telling, is that they also proposed common solutions. But Porter, Georgian, et all claim the sky will fall. I have some concerns for the specialty and bush operators, but the "Coalition" are all air carriers like AC and WestJet operating out of larger airports - with a bush league mentality.
Re: Saferskies.ca, meet the lobbyists
What a disgusting website.
Go Porter, pay your pilots triple for them to work on their days off. Maybe if the lifestyle was better, people would stick around longer?
Disgusting.

Disgusting.
As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

I would like to see the Accountable Executives come out directly and explain publicly what their true agenda is-fear mongering and deceit...and pad the bottom line.
