It would actually make a lot of sense for Boeing to buy it, Airbus has its stake in ATR. This would allow Boeing to have an airplane for every category (although it would have to include the C-series) They have owned DeHavilland once, why not own it again?

Why not look into aerospace. Its not like the Canadian government won't give them a so called loan for billions of dollars. The air and train division are doing so well for them. Lets jump into something else when you don't have enough money to pay your debt now.

http://montreal.ctvnews.ca/europe-s-air ... -1.3634325Europe's Airbus to buy majority stake in Bombardier CSeries program
The two aircraft manufacturers announced the partnership Monday evening, weeks after the United States announced 300 per cent preliminary duties on exports of the aircraft following a complaint from Airbus rival Boeing.
The CSeries headquarters will remain in the Montreal area but a second assembly line for the 100- to 150-seat plane will be set up at Airbus' facility in Mobile, Alabama.

Congratulations Canada. You've succeeded through your cash injection into effectively subsidizing a European aircraft maker, and US jobs.
Well done.

Boeing will regret being so greedy.

Two things;
Check out the stock price tomorrow.
Isn't this whole story bordering on fraudulent, or is it just me.

Boeing doesn't seem to realize that it has an oligopoly - and it should be content to maintain said status quo in the industry.

Bombardier's stock price isn't going to double digits any time soon over this. The deal is about C series, not the company. Bombardier is still a company struggling to survive. This just bought them more time, that's all.
I'd look for the sale of the Q400 and CRJ divisions to be front and center now that C series has been taken off life support. This aircraft now has a better chance at survival.
I still maintain the C series is going to be a death knell for regional airlines in the States if sales take off. It will be interesting to see if C series finds a role at United Airlines.
Bombardier have shown their hand by these recent moves. Their aerospace division seems to be the focus of their attention. I can see business aircraft becoming their meat and potatoes now, since they're obviously trying to shed their Commercial aircraft division.
As rookiepilot pointed out, we've subsidized a European manufacturer and handed jobs over to the Americans. All for nothing.
This may be a good deal for C series, but it isn't a good deal for Canadians.

Aerospace is also an extremely cyclical business. BBD is struggling while we are at -- or near -- the peak of the business cycle.

PS: @ Gino, I'm much more positive on Canadian energy for the long term, the last few months. First time in a long time. If one has some patience......

Is the Learjet brand still up for sale? I'm surprised BBD would try to offload the Q and RJ as well. Q seems to be a decent money maker, and the CRJ, a neo version could spark sales.
