Nobody here is claiming that they are a superior being (except perhaps you with your usual morally superior put-downs). Someone just said they didn't like to view aviation as a boys club, which is a perfectly reasonable comment given the initial picture and subsequent comments in this thread.and needed it to be pointed out to us by a superior being
Re: Pilot unity
You are right. We must have gender neutrality..
I am not good at posting pictures...anybody can help out by posting a picture of man boobs? That aught to set the picture balance to gender neutral.
Crunch, I shall give you the last word, and so refraim from another post on this thread...allow you to have that....last important word. Then maybe go have a nice glass of wine and some chocolate to celebrate politically correct gender neutrality...

meh.. call me what you want. I'll gladly take a hit from someone I don't know, if it means showing respect to an entire demographic.
If not being a cretin means I'm politically correct and morally superior.. and that's an insult? then yeah.. ok whatever.

Re: Pilot unity
Could someone describe the originally-posted picture (in gender-neutral and diversified inclusive terms, if required) so that the rest of us can know WHAT THE FLUKC YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT?
Seriously, it's like trying to follow the ramblings of the clinically, mentally ill.

Re: Pilot unity
Maybe Crunch is just trying to be a little bit less of a jerk and recognizes that as a minority, women in aviation can't change attitudes by speaking up alone, but need to have strong men who will come alongside them and not be afraid to call out others when they make us feel like crap. I am so sick of anyone who makes a comment against being a jerk towards women being put down as an effeminate PC robot. I call it being a nice guy and actually caring about people, even if they are only womentrey kule wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2018 10:53 am You are right. We must have gender neutrality..

“Non-PC” is a politically correct term for “**shole”.
Nothing at all wrong with being PC.

I'm not a PC person but the meme was in poor taste.
Re: Pilot unity
Ok people. The intent was to make a joke. I showed the meme to one of my female pilot friend and she thought it was funny.
Sorry if I offended women pilots, it wasn't the goal.

Re: Pilot unity
I showed my wife who is an airline pilot and she thought it was helarious. When she read the posts in people responses to it she said, "why do people have to be such sensitive pussys".

Because the PC group may attack you and try to name shame you?"why do people have to be such sensitive pussys".

Re: Pilot unity
I guess it all comes down to how much crap you've had to endure in your career, or on any given day. Sometimes it rolls right off and sometimes it's the straw...
And the dismissal of your feelings by labeling them with small words just makes it worse

Re: Pilot unity
What are the big words that feelings should be labeled with? And should the expression that someone's feelings got hurt be used as a limit to discussion?HiFlyChick wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2018 6:55 am And the dismissal of your feelings by labeling them with small words just makes it worse
Re: Pilot unity
Some people can tell when is and when isn't the appropriate time and place to post a picture of tits. Other people seem to have great difficulty with that concept.
Re: Pilot unity
I can't tell. I thought the original post was OK but apparently I was wrong. You seem to have it figured out so please post the rules for when it is appropriate and when it isn't to help me (and the others who weren't offended) in the future.
Re: Pilot unity
Not sure if you're being sarcastic, but I'll chime in anyway...
The way I see it, this discussion is like a business meeting. You don't generally go to business meetings and start talking about sex, or showing your porn. Of course there are exceptions, but it depends on who you're with. My wife recently worked somewhere where everyone was comfortable talking about people's sex lives and making jokes about sex. She was comfortable with it, and so were the other people.
Just because it's an internet forum doesn't mean it's automatically like reddit.

Re: Pilot unity
I didn't say my feelings were "hurt" - I'm not that insecure that an internet forum has that kind of power over me....upnatem wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2018 8:27 amWhat are the big words that feelings should be labeled with? What I was trying to indicate was that someone who answers an honest and constructive criticism (i.e. "this is not appropriate because...") with small labels (small, meaning belittling) is making matters worse, but I guess the laughs on me because I suppose that was probably the intent.
So sue me - I thought that I could go to an aviation forum and actually hear some good discussions about aviation, and yes, we've had those... but somehow, at some point, while people are arguing and it all deteriorates into a mud slinging contest, some guy has to start in with some sexist and/or crude comment that, when called out on it, turns into a discussion about how overly sensitive and emotional women and anyone who doesn't put up with sexist crap is.
To the original OP - this is not really aimed at you - you already said that you didn't mean to offend, and I believe you and appreciate you saying so - this is aimed at all the guys that think that any woman who stands up for her gender is being a right-wing feminist witch with a capital B and anyone who agrees can't possibly believe what they are saying but are just spineless PC automatons. In aviation, women are still visible minorities, and it just gets really old when certain members of the "majority" toss out stupid comments, jokes, comparisons, comics.... it just gets really really OLD....
I guess I'm showing my age or possibly naivete, though, to expect that any online forum could possibly be populated by enough people of enough caliber that on-topic discussions wouldn't deteriorate into snide or derogatory remarks against any particular group of people (I really miss TAF). So I'll go look for an aviation thread now. Keep the blue side up boys!

Re: Pilot unity
The PC issue is when one side (you can guess which one) uses inflammatory language and labels to shut down debate on important topics, when one disagrees with their dictatorship like agenda.
In short, disagreeing with anything some of the PC fanatics say risks being labeled hate speech -- for the crime of disagreement. And I'm not talking about this specific thread or the photo,in my reference to PC.
We are rapidly moving towards an Era dominated by the Thought Police, (check the current news these days) where one agrees with the government's position and ideology, or is declared a persona non grata.
