Archie Trammell flies west

Post by oldtimer »

Just read from Aviation International News that Journalist, Author, Safety Expert and Weather Radar Expert Archie Trammell jr. passed away on February 05, 2018. He was 89.
How many pilots have read his articles on what he preferred to call Airborne Radar rather than Weather Radar because it could do more than "detect" thunderstorms.

The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

He certainly passed on a lot of detailed technical info over the years.

We attended his full course, twice. A wealth of information. Even had a beer (or 2) with him after.

He will be missed. RIP Archie

Wow, sad news.
I have communicated with him over email several months ago about a radar issue I was having at the time, what a great help he was.
