Can I get a job in Canada?

Post by Eaglefighter »

Hello everyone!

Introducing me first.
I’m a Korean. I live in Korea. I dont have any citizenship or permanent residency.
Actually I’m a military pilot. I have over 2500hours of total and over 1000hours of PIC with B737. Also have a b737 type rating and a commercial pilot license.
Is there any possible way to get a job in Canada?
Whatever like Aircanada, Westjet, any airtaxi or regional airlines companies....
If possible, does company helps me to get a permanent residency?
I really wanna go Canada with ma family.
Please help. Thanks.

There are some carriers like EVAS that sponsor foreign pilots.
You don't necessarily need a sponsor to immigrate though. See e.g. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-re ... rkers.html

How exactly did you become a 737 captain at only 1,500 hours?

Thank you for your help.
Military quite different from commercial airlines.
You know there are ranks and tasks.
So just litte time(than commercial) can leads to me as a Captain.
EVAS needs Beech and DHC, not Boeing. Thanks.

I would think the chances of getting an airline that operates Boeings to sponsor you to come to Canada is nearly zero. I have heard rumours of Georgian sponsoring foreigners for the RJ although I don't know for certain if they do. If you're stuck on flying a Boeing you're going to have a tough time. I personally know a 10,000+ hour, former A340 captain who is now an fo on a small turboprop.

In Canada you're qualified for your ATPL if you're out of the military and have an IR with them when you leave. Which, if you got jets would be well below 1000TT... I think.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong but from what I remember reading in the CARs and when I was in the military...

Canadian military pilots have to meet the same experience requirements for ATPL as a civilian. With the military instrument rating you only have to do written exams rather than a flight test.
