Encore will get you out even in a ground stop
7:50 pm in yeg, electical storm in progress, ground stop announced and yet Westjet encore ground crew seems to think they're fast enough to dodge lightning. feel free to ask me for photos, I can't attach due to on cellphone

You mean ATS? There is a big difference between a ground stop (ATC) and a red alert (airport authority - Thor Guard). There aren't any rules that say you can't continue to operate under a red alert...it's just not advisable for obvious reasons.

Not to mention, a YEG ground stop wouldn't affect any departures out of there.
