A sad time as men of his generation fade into the past. A humbling life story, in that for most of us, our late teens and early 20s are spent trying to sort out where we are going in life, while Mr.Wellum spent his literally saving civilization....

Not to take away from Sqn. Ldr. Wellum, but on Tuesday Mary Ellis died at 101 years old - she was a member of the ATA during the war.

Just last month a friend recommended I read his book “First Light”. It is available as an e-book and is a great read.
