Airlines and living in Newfoundland
250 hour wonder here so this will only matter in a few years. We're looking to move back to the east coast and really fell in love with St. John's.
I'm just wondering if there are any long term jobs that can be based out of YYT or if you're always going to be commuting to Halifax for all your flying. Are there any major airlines with bases out of YYT?
I realize that PAL flies out of YYT but if I'm buying a house out there I'm hoping to fly something larger than a Dash way down the road.

Just PAL and EVAS for airlines. Maybe some smaller operators. But none of the majors have crew bases out east. It would mean commuting to yul or yyz

Definitely a sizeable number commute out of YYT and a small handful out of YDF this is at AC.
Commuting sucks, but some guys make it work.

What about Halifax? Does anyone have any experience living there and flying with the majors?

There are no Majors with Halifax bases. Most commute. Used to be a jazz base. I think porter still has a pilot base there too..

Porter has a base in HZ, you could probably hold it as a new hire or within 2-6 months, but its very senior, expect a long time on reserve.

Don’t do it! Live where your job is and use your travel benefits to visit. Commuting will kill you. I commuted from YYZ-YUL for 6 months and that was bad enough.
