CYOW De-Icing Pads usage
Just curious how busy the De-Icing bays are in the Fall/Winter/Spring months in Ottawa? What’s the average you see? What’s the worst you’ve seen? Where did the waiting aircraft wait?

Re: CYOW De-Icing Pads usage
Been a lot quicker last couple of years since it became Aeromag. Of course they send the deice experts over and basically tell us to deice every time out of there in the winter. Doesn't hurt the block expansion though!
Let’s Go Brandon
Re: CYOW De-Icing Pads usage
I've seen a mix of good, bad, and ugly. Depends on the time of day and weather.
Normally call them 30 minutes prior to showing up at the pad. On average, it's 4-6 planes, and with 4 of the 6 bays open, you're in and out within 20 minutes.
I've also been 12th in line; took us closer to 90 minutes before spraying. Also seen a 3 hour delay (last April where every plane was coated in a good 3" from the FZRA overnight). They normally line them up on the east/west lines as far back as they can, pending with direction the flow is (up to K near AA, and as far as CC on the other end).
