Re: E145 Type Rating in Canada
I flew with a former A340 or 380 pilot who mentioned that his type rating also does not exist. He said that until there is an operator in Canada or a training organization approved that they wouldn't give him the rating on his license.

Can't get a type rating for a type that doesn't exist in Canada, unfortunately.

Considering it flies in Canadian airspace, you’d think it would

I guess you’d need an Authorized Person to sign the application and without any of the type here nobody would be authorized to sign it.

This is the list that you're looking for:

My guess is that they didn't want to recognize it because it would have hurt CRJ sales in the Canadian market.

Why would you spend millions certifying an aircraft with no customer base. At the time, the only possible customer were air canada or jazz. Both have vested interests in sucking up to the feds/pq govt.

I am in the same boat. I have the E 135/145 type rating on 2 licences but not on my Canadian licence. When I approached TC, they told me that the manufacturer (Embraer) had not certified the aircraft in Canada - read cost and no sales.

I've heard this many times... It even applies to RCAF folks trying to make the move to the civil side. Government of Canada owns and operates the aircraft, it has an ICAO designation, but because there are no civil operators in Canada you can't have it on your licence... "Thanks for your service, but we can't help you."
Don't forget the TC motto: "We're not happy until you're not happy"
To be fair, if you're looking for work in Canada it's more than likely an employer that operates RJs (Bombardier or Embraer) will look favourably on your experience when comparing you to the 1000hr, C-172 instructor applying for the same position.
