GTA Medical Examiners
Can anybody recommend a TC medical examiner in the GTA, preferably close to YYZ?

Though out of the GTA, I do recommend Dr. Kelly Wright in Barrie. Book about a month in advance though, she keeps busy!

His nurse does most of the work. In terms of sheer throughput, I’ve never seen anyone process patients as fast as Dr. Gilmore. In and out in about ninety seconds. I imagine for a one man business his is probably the highest grossing per hour in the country. And credit to him.Capt. Underpants wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2020 7:40 pmYour opinion is in the minority.

Re: GTA Medical Examiners
Like most of them, Gilmore is quick if you're healthy.
He's the guy you want to go to if you have an issue however. He knows all the right people at TC and the FAA and I guarantee you'll have your medical back faster than any other doc in Canada. His speed dealing with the FAA is remarkable (responses from them can take weeks or months).
He's very professional and understanding. All he does is aviation related doctor stuff so you know you're dealing with someone who cares, unlike a family doc that's just looking to make an extra $150 off of OHIPs books.
Been going to Gilmore for years now. I even traveled across the country to use him when I lived out west.
Guy used to fly a 320 for AC back in the day.

Re: GTA Medical Examiners
I was less than impressed with the doctor I saw for my initial Category 1 medical... if I were to switch doctors upon renewal of my medical, how does that work? Can I just show up at Dr. Gilmore's office and I guess he'll file a requisition with my initial doctor to get my history?
Re: GTA Medical Examiners
A CAME doesn’t need your history; they are carrying out a check on a snapshot of your health at that moment in time, not providing care to you of any sort, nor any kind of ongoing monitoring.
If you have health issues that need management over time they are a matter for you and your family doctor, and if they impinge on your fitness to fly then TC will have all the details in their files from what you have reported at previous medical examinations, and possibly directly from your family doctor who is under a legal duty to report to TC.
There might also be requirements for you to provide periodic reports from a specialist to TC but *you* will know those requirements, and have to fulfill them yourself.
By the way there’s nothing wrong with a rapid aviation medical; if you meet the criteria for licensing then every second spent in a doctors surgery is time you could be doing something more fun instead. It’s just that Gilmore’S efficiency is ... remarkable.

Re: GTA Medical Examiners
Gotta say +1 for Dr. Gillmore. He's been my CAME for 15 years now, and he's quick, efficient, thoroughly professional, and usually has a good joke or funny anecdote ready to boot. Good guy - highly recommended.
