There is no violation and people can have ideas different than yours, right or wrong it's not a crime. You should just deal with it instead of calling for their censure.
Oh relax. Years ago they got rid of the miscellaneous forum and it was decided that discussions should be aviation related. That's my issue. This has nothing to do with aviation. Don't get me wrong, this is wildly entertaining.
But seriously mods, just re-open the miscellaneous forum if you're going to allow this freak show.
I'm relaxed.

I feel as though you're getting a little uptight though... who cares.

We are doomed. The virus will not kill that many people in the grand scheme of things. The coming economic collapse however, is likely to put Western Civilization into the same position the Soviets found themselves in post collapse. The US debt, combined with the economic shutdown and low oil prices could very well bring about the end of the US dollar as the world reserve currency (A key Chinese goal). Once the world decides they no longer need US dollars, the US really has nothing left to sell (No manufacturing, software development is mostly Asian now). Once that happens, all they will have is a large military.....and a massive chip on their shoulder while dealing with an ascendant China. This two months of self-isolation might be good practice for dealing with the fallout from that confrontation.

The economies of the entire world are being depressed by the pandemic. Once the pandemic has passed, the economies of the world will regain strength again.

Some commodities will be decimated no doubt but this whole chicken little collapse scenario won't happen. People like you are just trying to scare up some market activity to benefit your own personal interest, ala fake news.

In fact, there will be a massive surge trying to get back to normalcy.

We are in a pause, my advice is to hold all investments until this passes.

Next thing you know, all the gold selling idiots will be here telling us all about how much they have stockpiled for when currencies disappear and we need to trade shiney metal for goods.

Well said.

Is the glass half empty or half full? The only real thing we can change right now is our attitude.

Aviation is not dead. It is "resting".

"Biden adviser, ObamaCare architect Zeke Emanuel says US should 'prepare' for coronavirus measures to last 18 months"

"I know that's dreadful news to hear," the Biden adviser continued. "How are people supposed to find work if this goes on in some form for a year and a half? Is all that economic pain worth trying to stop COVID-19? The truth is we have no choice. ... We cannot return to normal until there's a vaccine. Conferences, concerts, sporting events, religious services, dinner in a restaurant, none of that will resume until we find a vaccine, a treatment, or a cure."

and don't forget there are companies, like amazon, who are making a shit load off this. Ironically our industry(whole travel industry) is one of the biggest factors in the spread. Unnecessary travel has become the norm.

Maybe, but I doubt it. The amount of debt and fiat currency Western nations are creating right now, combined with already high levels of debt and the hostile intentions of the Chinese and Russians means that the repercussions from this event are going to be deep and long lasting.

    If I were powerful enough to 'scare up market activity to benefit' my personal interest I wouldn't be using Avcanada to do it!

Nope, there will be a massive wave of debt default.

What? Literally every economist out there is saying the complete opposite of you. A long and slow recovery. What suddenly makes you an expert on this?

You gotta laugh at some of the - we're all doomed!!!! - comments on here.

Up until this virus happening the world was ticking along quite nicely. A huge wave of retirements and more and more people wanting to travel meant plenty of jobs in the aerospace industry. That's still true and people will want to travel as soon as possible after being caged up in their homes for the last few weeks.

The only thing that governments, thankfully not the Canadian government, are doing that could screw the airlines is making them repay the cancelled tickets instead of re-booking later down the road. That is a stupid decision.

Yeah, with all the money they’ve saved while on EI, right? I’m sure they’ll be in great financial shape for a vacation.

The staggering, growing EI application numbers are all you need to know to understand just how serious an economic situation this all is.

People might want to travel but they’ll have to save aaall over again.

And they will. It'll take a while but the world will get back to normal, hopefully with improvements. Fiscal responsibility and discipline would be nice for, you know...the next time. A renewed appreciation for global cooperation. A worldwide rejection of abject incompetence and corruption. A lasting conviction that we are not invincible and need to take care of our health and environment.

There will of course be depressing exceptions and outliers - looking at you again America, I dare you to change.

Worldwide catastrophes often beget years long periods of uncharacteristic human intelligence, cooperation and responsibility. I'm hoping this will do the same.

A renewed appreciation for global cooperation.
More likely, a renewed appreciation for local supply chains vs. global ones - particularly in medical supplies.

Since none of us can see the future, I'm hedging my bets on a big scramble to get back to normal life.

One economist pegged it at 3 years, is that long?

Can already see politicians using our current situation to stoke the fires of isolationist and protectionist tendencies.

A more distributed supply chain obviously makes us more resilient to the kinds of problems we're currently facing (ie. all of one product being manufactured in one country; a single point of failure), but then I also worry about how nations may start behaving even more poorly towards one another when they no longer have shared common economic interests or relationships.

One shudders to think that in a very real foreseeable way, this virus may end up steering the course of future history towards war, or generalized global unrest. How insignificant we all are as individuals when something so small without even the benefit of conscious thought has the power to affect the entire human race in such profound ways. I can't even convince my old man to stay off Facebook.

People should be given an option of re-booking, ( Ideal ) a credit ( more than a year ) or a refund with a slight fee. Other countries have funds that the airlines pay into for such eventualities. ( Insurance scheme)

If you had paid $4000.00 in tickets and have lost your job or have no business and cannot get $$$ from the government , that extra $4000 would come in pretty handy to put food on the table!
Cops think of themselves, teachers think of themselves, airline employees think of themselves, time to grow up little ones!

The latest bit of foolishness from Dr. Tam Tam and the misfits in Ottawa is ,,,,,,, Get going on those homemade masks folks ,,, it won't stop you from getting the virus but might stop your virus from infecting others !!! When will these Liars stop ! N95 or better ( Homemade is 40-60% effective ) masks are still a stopgap measure ( Have you ever seen the equipment they use in Ebola labs? ) Masks do a better job of stopping DROPLET size transmission as compared to the mask being used by the receiver to stop inhalation due to many factors. The only reason nurses and doctors use simple masks is that the rate of injury/death over the cost is good enough for the bean counters ! Having older Doctors in close proximity , working on patients , with only an N95 mask, gown and glasses is foolishness !!! Its equivalent to landing with your plane with 5 min. of fuel left on every flight and expecting never to run out of fuel !
