Air Canada 777 Relief Pilot

Post by ExtraButtery »

Hi all,

Was researching relief pilot opportunities with AC. Anyone done this recently? What is the schedule like? How do you get to log hours?

Thanks

If you are worried about how much hours you will log, you aren’t ready for this job.

RP flying is no different then anything else here. It’s a position held by pilots all throughout the senority list. A lot of new hires choose it because it generally gets you a good schedule with minimum amount of days worked while making the least amount of money. (A new hire 320 F/O, and a New here RP make the same) the schedules however are not. However there are some very senior folks who hold the position as well, some are Lawyers, restaurant owners, real estate agents etc. With just lives outside of flying. Others are happy to make over a 100 G’s a year doing very little. Who cares about logging hours at AC? 99.9 % of the pilots that come here are lifers. An RP can go from cruising to left seat if his seniority can hold it. No need to bid right seat first. Although the company would recommend it if no previous jet or command time.

Thanks for the info. How would you stay proficient? Can you pick up extra sim sessions?

Sims are also available for practice sessions if you are so inclined. Unlimited. Space available of course.

Afternoon.

Just starting out in the industry soon. Can someone who knows tell us what a relief 777 pilot makes?

"A new hire 320 F/O, and a New here RP make the same"

Thanks.
