Even if the economy was on track for major growth, as it was in December 2019, Boeing was in big trouble. This 60B is mostly to cover the fact they absolutely, and unequivocally dropped the ball with the Max. That money, once the cheque is cut, is going to turn into some golden parachutes, while the rest disappears in lawsuits and aircraft cancellations.

Let 'em suffer. Particularly when they cried wolf about Bombardier receiving government subsidies and forced BBDs hand in selling the C Series.

*Bright side* Boeing will become a wholly owned government company should this take place. Logic was, protect american technology from international interests...
