Pretty sure they're all over the place. Cape Dorset YTE, Pond Inlet YIO and Hall Beach YUX amongst others in the North for example.
Re: Awos Canada
Not many, but a few.
You can add CZAM and CZML to the list.

I don't see one for hope. The others list a frequency. So they don't have a direct phone number, I'm guessing you would have to call FSS

Lots of AWOS in Canada... and hopelessly inaccurate when the weather is low to boot!
Re: Awos Canada
It's an AUTO that generates METARs/SPECIs. And generate SPECIs it certainly does...rotorspeed wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 12:35 pm I don't see one for hope. The others list a frequency. So they don't have a direct phone number, I'm guessing you would have to call FSS

YXD as one of the first, and it never was very accurate. It is still working, although the airport has been closed for years. Still inaccurate (Blatchford it is called now)

Re: Awos Canada
I'm guessing you're equating AWOS to a phone-in, pre-recorded ATIS announcement on the lines of what they have at some major aerodromes including in CZBB, etc.? That is not AWOS.rotorspeed wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 12:35 pm I don't see one for hope. The others list a frequency. So they don't have a direct phone number, I'm guessing you would have to call FSS

I was looking in the states, so the AWOS has a phone number so you can call and check. Obviously I'm not talking about call in atis. I'm talking about smaller airports that have no tower . This is CYHE
METAR AUTO H24 Tml advsy fcst in VFR rte fcst (dur DT only), issue times: 14, 17, 20, 23Z. WxCam

Re: Awos Canada
either listen to the frequency or view the metar on your favorite tool (awws, foreflight etc.). fss, in terms of the fic, has no additional access. an fss on field may have more up to date info from the weather station.rotorspeed wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 8:24 pm I was looking in the states, so the AWOS has a phone number so you can call and check. Since there is no frequency is it just FSS that acesses to it?
plenty of AWOS stations in Canada. Some do have phone numbers like US ones, but that would require the operator to pay for a phone line.

Re: Awos Canada
The phone number thing in the states was the confusing part in regards to USA and Canada, I just hadn't seen one in Canada with phone number

There is an RCO at Hope which will get you to Pacific Radio who can give you the weather over the radio.

Yes, like I said I was just kind of comparing US and Canada
