FAA Part #s

Post by North Shore »

Does anyone know the Canadian CARs equivalent of FAA Part 135, 91. and 121, please?

121, I think, is equivalent to 704...

TIA!

There's no direct comparison, but this is pretty close:

CAR 702 (Air work) can be conducted under Part 91.
CAR 703 (Air Taxi) and CAR 704 (Commuter) are generally conducted under Part 135, and certain subparts. Some CAR 704 operations here would need to be operated under Part 121 in the USA.
CAR 705 (Airline) is equivalent to Part 121.

CAR 604 is generally conducted under Part 91. Aircraft that are fractionally owned (i.e. NetJets) are operated under Part 91K.

Flight training can be conducted under Parts 61 and Part 141. Part 141 schools are structured and certificated, equivalent to "integrated" programs here. Part 61 can be operated by anyone who holds a CFI certificate. There is in need for an operating certificate, and the CFI can own the aircraft. Think of Part 61 as your local flying club, and Part 141 as a University program (however this is not exclusive).
