Don't know much about them but I was stuck there a couple years ago and everyone was super helpful.

Yes, contact Lake Country Airways at Orillia Lake St John Airport. An excellent training environment for wheels or floats.

Good restaurant too. That is important for an airport.

Not Ontario, but if you ever want to go west, Air Hart in Kelowna is amazing.

I have been a few times this year and they have been open every time. A quick Google check shows there still open, where did you hear they were closed? I plan at least one more trip there this year.

From a fellow pilot out of Lindsay airport, said they were closed

I'm confident that whether the restaurant is open or closed can be easily determined first hand, rather than relying on third hand speculation. We in aviation owe it to support others who serve our industry, so let's give the benefit of the doubt, If you are not aware that it's open, say nothing! Restaurant or not, Orillia is still one of the few local float training bases - but better get at it, the season is ending....From a fellow pilot out of Lindsay airport, said they were closed

Lake St. John (Lake Country Airways) is a great place for float flying.
I Instructed on floats and flew charters there in the early eighties with no Tailwinds on site ... only teatime with Dutch and the boys.
Great memories!
Good luck with your float training!

'Had an excellent dinner at Tailwinds this evening with my wife, daughter and friends, while I watched other friends come and go on a very nice evening for flying!
