Betterborders.ca Campaign For Rapid Testing
Covid-19 has created many challenges for the airlines. With so many carriers relying on international traffic and tourists, the 14 day quarantine is one of the biggest challenges. Unfortunately for us, until the 14 day border quarantine policy changes, most of the largest airlines will probably have large portions of their fleet stay grounded.
Countries such as Germany have demonstrated that testing international travellers on arrival can safely replace quarantine requirements and keep Covid-19 cases per capita below what we have seen here in Canada. Please take a few minutes to visit www.betterborders.ca and enter your details to submit a letter to your MP in support of a move away from quarantines and towards rapid testing.
There are more than 40,000 airline employees currently laid off due to Covid-19. If even 10% of us flood the inboxes of parliament with email for when they return to work after the long weekend we will have made a powerful statement.
Please share the website with your family and friends along with a call to action asking them to send an email using the site.

Form letters to politicians are of little use, as their staffers are adept at making filters to help ignore the "noise".
Proper, individually crafted correspondence is a much better option - but via email, it is again of little use; because the MPs public email is handled by a staffer who decides what does and does not get to the MP.
Proper, individually crafter LETTERS (that is, a piece of correspondence on paper that is mailed) have a better chance of being noticed. Having said that, every MP receives reams of mail, and their mail is handled (again) by staffers who decide what does and does not get responded to (with a form letter) and what does or does not actually end up in the hands of an MP.
If this campaign directed individuals to write letters, and provided some form of a template, having numerous letters end up at either the constituency office or the parliamentary office of an MP all on a similar topic - that gets noticed. It can also be ignored, so don't get your hopes up too much.

I used to agree with you about letters (thousands of letters are hard to ignore, plus it's free to mail to an MP), but in the past few years I've never got a response to a letter. Email on the other hand, I have at least gotten a canned reply.7ECA wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11, 2020 2:07 pm Form letters to politicians are of little use, as their staffers are adept at making filters to help ignore the "noise".

As much as I hate to agree with you, it's likely that this will be the case7ECA wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11, 2020 2:07 pm Form letters to politicians are of little use, as their staffers are adept at making filters to help ignore the "noise".

BUT
It's still worth trying even if the hope is slim... it's better then not trying at all

This takes just a couple minutes of your time. It helps.
