The Dambuster squadron (617), also pioneered the use of the Tallboy and Grandslam bombs. For one of those it was the only squadron equipped for it.

After the deluge, 617 Sqdn had a fairly large group of highly trained, and experienced aircrews around, so they were re-purposed into a force that was used on targets that required greater than usual accuracy: shipping canals, railway tunnels, viaducts and the like. some of the bombs that were used on those missions were the Tallboys and Grand Slams.
this is a good book on the subject: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/249 ... -the-flood

The Tallboy and Grand Slam, along with the bouncing bomb used in the dams raid know as an "Upkeep" were all designed by Barnes Wallis.
He also designed and developed the delivery systems for all of the above.
As also stated, they were all delivered by 617 squadron.

I thought Barnes Wallis also designed the Tall Boy and Grand Slam. Also the Wimpy.

Um..... ......with the exception of the Wimpy (Wellington), that's pretty much what I said in the post directly above yours.

As a matter of interest, Wing Commander Johnny Facquier (Canadian) over saw 617 Sqn. ops from Dec. 1944 until the end of the war.
