General Aviation skiing trip in Canada?

Post by digits_ »

Hi all,

are there any hidden spots in Canada where one could land a small plane, go put on some skis and start skiing? Or, more realistically, which ski resorts have a runway nearby in Canada?

Regards,

CYCP must make the list eh?

2 Winters ago I went for a walk around CAJ9, if you could get the chief to let you land there and set up camp the touring possibilities looked nearly endless to me. You'll be the only whitie for 100 nm so be cautious.

I used to scope out places flying the routes between YVR, YLW, YEG and YYC.

There's a bunch more between YVR and YXT bit I never had coordinates because I was sitting in the back.

Check out
N51 50 W116 56
20nm NW of YGE (Golden)
N49 36 W121 52

downhill or cross country ? For the latter, 108 mile ranch is a resort with a paved runway. Dunno what it's like there today, but years ago they catered to the x-country ski crowd in the winter.
