About 6 lighters
Why, do you smoke?
It's to heat the can of beans. The lighter gets too hot before the beans are warm enough.
Through careful experimentation we found if you have four lighters you can cycle them and get a nice warm canned meal without burning your thumb. The other two are spares.

I tape a spoon and a can opener to my can but he called me a sissy because of it. :(

shitdisturber wrote:You're missing the obvious survival kit requirement. As I was told when I took ejection training in the airforce, every ejection seat pack contains a deck of cards. Why you ask? Simple, in a survival situation get out the cards and play solitaire; withing minutes somone will appear to tell you "red jack on black queen."
Funny... I heard that exact same thing with 424s out of Trenton when I was doing my SARTech training. haha

As to answer the question... I will post up pictures at a later time when I get a chance as to what I "have" to carry. I only carry what I may need should the worst happen on that flight. For example: I won't carry my life vest for a flight from CYTZ to CYKZ. haha

I'm fortunate enough to have something that I carry with me most of the time while flying floats, wheels or skis. It's something left over from another business I had and eliminates the immediate problem faced with escaping the elements, the bugs, the swim to shore, keeping warm and dry. It's a 4 man inflatable life raft. Weighs about 15 lbs. is small and would be instant shelter in all seasons. Not it's original use but a perfect tent. Mine has a survival kit built-in with basics items. Instant shelter in 5 seconds that is bug tight, water tight and now you can concentrate on helping others perhaps wounded etc. You have solved the biggest challenge to survive, providing shelter.

Guess it all depends on what airport(s) you fly out of.
