FAA ATPL prep material

Post by willing to fly »

I was thinking about converting my license in the new year. Does anyone have some study material that they're done using?

For some overseas contracts, it is better to have an FAA licence.

Additionally, there are a lot of N-registered aircraft in Europe and elsewhere, so you'd need it for that as well.

And, if you ever get a gig instructing, you'll need an FAA licence to instruct American pilots.

Not a bad thing to have, especially for the price (free for the actual licence - are you listening TC?)

CHeers.

I remember when I was working for one of the puppy mills. All the instructors would tell their students that when they were done their PPL, they should work on a Commercial. Their big sales pitch was that even if you didn't use it, it would be good to bring your skills up to the next level.

Maybe I'll use it, maybe I won't. What is it going to hurt to write and convert?

Are the Gleim courses online or are they old school books?

WTF, (haha, Willing to Fly),

They do have an online course, but I can't endorse it as I haven't used it, nor have any of my colleagues. Their stuff is generally pretty comprehensive, so my assumption would be that it is a pretty good resource.

Have a look.

I had thought that they were books. I was hoping that someone who had done the conversion had some books sitting around that they were done with.

Dauntless is a very good software to use. IIRC less than $40 and lets you have study modes and test modes. 2 weeks of that and you'll make over 90%.

Dauntless software.

If you really want to do it on the cheap, just read the FAR's, 135 and 121.
