ATR seminars Inc. (Toronto Island Airport)
Do they still exist in any form?
Re: ATR seminars Inc. (Toronto Island Airport)
No, not to the best of my knowledge. They became ATI and then died about a year after 9/11.

Airline Training International a.k.a. ATI a.k.a ATR Seminars Inc. etc. went bankrupt in August 2003 taking a whole lot of money from students and staff and splitting it amongst the shareholders!
Re: ATR seminars Inc. (Toronto Island Airport)
Was one of the shareholders C.M.
And where can we find out what really ATR did to the students? Is there a government source or something.

From what I understand, no. The fellow you are refering to sold the business to a group of venture capitalists. Those same venture capitalists presided over the eventual death of the company and the evapouration of the students' deposits.bluenote wrote:Was one of the shareholders C.M.
The CEO at the time of the collapse was Robert Gilson. (info available via Google so I'm not spilling state secrets here). He wound up with several of the company's aircraft after all was said and done.
C.M. was not a major player at the time of collapse. The group that bought company from him sidelined him and his family.

Re: ATR seminars Inc. (Toronto Island Airport)
Deposits that were to be held in trust and NOT spent. Money taken must be held and only spent when it is used by the student. The kicker was that they went into bankruptcy protection and continued to operate which is fine but took more deposits telling students they would be safe and separate from money collected before going into protection. It was a lie and all that money disappeared too.
Poor management and unreal overhead aside they did have potential had everything gone right but 9/11 and SARS killed their international student and career pilot program which was to be the life blood of the company.

I'm also trying to locate if possible any of the pilots that flew the ChUM aerial traffic reporting contract flying both the partenavia GISY and the cessna FYIQ. It has been a while but if anyone might know or remember flying for ATR during the the first couple of years that being 1990 and on.
Thanks

Hi Bluenote,
How can I help you
I flew GISY on traffic patrol for ATR. The Chief Pilot at the time was was Dave Curry and another pilot may have been Albert Lee.
I don't have contact info for them although Dave was working for the Accident Investigation Board.

what would be the minimum qualifications to fly the 'right' seat on the partenavia performing the chum contract flying the aerial traffic job? Can you stick a fresh commercial licenced pilot with a multi engine rating in the right seat along a seasoned guy seating in the left seat.
thanks

Was Dave Curry the chief pilot in 1990 at ATR for the chum contract?
