Remember the terrorists with lasers tagging planes?

Anyone believe that those incidents and the one described below are NOT related?!

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. military will begin using an elaborate network of cameras and lasers next month to scan the sky over Washington and flash coloured warning beams at aircraft that enter the nation's most restricted metropolitan airspace.

About a dozen high-powered cameras at unidentified locations will be able to zoom in on an airplane anywhere in the restricted airspace, which covers a 50-kilometre radius around each of the Washington area's three major airports. Red and green laser beams attached to the cameras will then warn the aircraft to leave the area.

Yeah, that's just what I want - a laser directed at my cockpit. Good plan. Once you've blinded the pilot, he will of course immediately leave the airspace - vertically.

With what is installed and mounted on the roof of the White House, you wouldn't want to "stray" too close to that building anyway.......so be thankful for the laser beam......they'd be doing you a favour

Perhaps so, but they don't need lasers or SAMs to keep ME away. I'll avoid that airspace like the plague, thank you. (I know, I know, it's not Zlin 142C they're worried about, but still. . .)
