I've been dreaming of buying a house on Skyway Drive since I was four years old and followed a Pitts taxiing from a driveway to the main apron...

Re: Guelph Airpark Saved
if that Pitts was dark yellow with blue trim, it was built and flown by Alan Hauff who lived on Skyway Drive...
Re: Guelph Airpark Saved
Great news to hear in the context of today's challenging GA environment!
Once done my private, I'll be sure to head over as often as possible to support my "home" field.

Re: Guelph Airpark Saved
We tennants are all pretty happy about this sale.
It is really great to see something positive happening in aviation for a change. Especially at the grass roots level.
The new owner is very enthusiastic about getting things up and running again. The fuel situation has been a real challenge for everyone and having a card swipe will be a huge improvement.
Too bad there will be no new School coming in but a new and much improved place to eat should bring in more people and aircraft and at this point that is more important to the Aiports survival.
Lets hope Len's legacy continues for many years to come.

Re: Guelph Airpark Saved
I'm looking forward to bacon'n eggs at the new restaurant next time I'm home.
Re: Guelph Airpark Saved
This is good to hear. Guelph airpark was a regular stop for me when I was doing my training.
I loved that people chose to live right off the runway.
So congrats to all you locals.

This is excellent to hear, with all the fields turning into subdivisions and parking lots....Score one for the good guys!
Re: Guelph Airpark Saved
Just thought I would update everyone as to what has been happening at Guelph.
The new owner , a lifetime Guelph resident and and owner of a few large local businesses, has met with us tenants and assured us that the Airpark will continue.
The restaurant is being gutted and a new and better one will be in place by spring.
The gas pumps have been replaced and a new credit card swipe system has been installed and gas will be available very soon. ( ground tanks were filled two days ago.)( Mogas and 100LL)
Tenants will be offered a "Fleet Card" for gas that will give them a slightly better gas price than transient customers.
No raise in hanger rents and some available at this time.
Runways are being looked at for possible resurfacing.
A flying School is looking into possibly using the Airpark as a satellite facility
An Maintenance Service is also playing with the idea of setting up shop .
The new owner is also currently shopping for an experience Airport Manager
All in all , we tenants are really happy with what is happening and it looks like Guelph Airpark will be around for a long time yet

A further update:
Fuel is now available at Guelph Airpark 24/7
The system is a credit card activated self serve system.
Please pass this along to all.

Re: Guelph Airpark Saved
Went up to Guelph did a pre-heat on the Fleet and went up for 1/2 hr
When I taxied up to the pumps, the new Air Park owner was waiting film and camera in hand
Totally unplanned, but I became the first to use the new card swipe fuel system.
By the end of the day there had been 5 fill ups
The new pumps work well but the hose retract needs adjusting.
Fuel price was $1.90/litre
Also stepped inside the old Terminal building and at present the kitchen and dining area are gutted and work underway on the new diner. No completion date at this time.

Re: Guelph Airpark Saved
I paid $1.681 per liter (all taxes in) today and I
still think I needed some vaseline. Or maybe
dinner and a movie first. Some flowers? Perhaps
some chocolates?

Re: Guelph Airpark Saved
Including
22.14 L x 1.90 = $42.07
That was the totol charge on my C-Card

Re: Guelph Airpark Saved
Does anyone know the contact person and contact details for who ever is managing the Guelph Airpark? Things are very quiet there and there seem to be more and more hangars empty. The windsock is in tatters as well.
Re: Guelph Airpark Saved
There is a contact ph # on the door of the former flying school.
Sorry I won't post the owners PH# in public.
Things are slow only because of the winter but now with the better weather it will pick up again as usual.
Gas is working and there are some new tenants in the hangers since last fall so I don't see them emptying.
I also know of a couple of owners that are also planning on moving there this spring.
