Time spend from home to airborne

Post by garfield »

i'm curious about how many time do you spend from the time you close the door at your home until the aircraft/helicopter wheels/floats are off the ground?

If the plane has gas in it, and I drive to work... I could shave it down to about 10 min. :D

House back door to airborne in two to three minutes, four to five if I have to pull one out of the hangar and/or back track. Much longer if it's winter, and I did not leave it plugged in.

House back door to landing in the nearest lake - six minutes.

My house back door to Doug Ronan's house front door by air - seven minutes.

On the other hand, time required to cut "the lawn" four hours +-

Always 1:15.

Back at an old job, would be anywhere from 10-30min depending on how far the hotel was and fuel situation.

1:50 minutes usually from me leaving to push back from gate. The real time consumer at my airport is the possible 10-15 minute wait for parking shuttle if I just miss it.

I can see the planes from my desk if the hangar doors are open. ~5 minutes to walk there when I finish up here and another 20 or so to pre-flight and prep the plane. Backtracking 4000' of runway takes a while.

From door to terminal 20mins max, plus 1 hour checkin time. Alarm is set to 2 hours before departure time.

The company car and driver arrives 2:15 before the scheduled departure time to take me to the Group Headquarters. Duty time starts ETD -60. Actual drive time is about 15 min so I have plenty of time to grab a coffee, go over the flight plan, etc.

I could probably do it in under 5 minutes for a pickup, If I need to load freight, tie canoes or search for passengers it takes a little longer.
