Question for the terminal guys regarding crossing clearance.

#1 Post by LGHeyyy » Sun Apr 15, 2018 2:41 pm

Hi, have a question for something I haven't been able to find a concrete answer for in literature.

You're on a star descending. You're given a "Cross THING at 12000." Non-charted restriction.
You're then given another clearance to cross another downstream waypoint, say, STUFF at 8000. Also non-charted.
You haven't yet crossed the first waypoint yet (THING).

Question is:
Is that first non-charted crossing restriction for the first waypoint still valid and to be complied with?

Any differences in this specific example between US and Canada?

You usually get altitudes that follow a similar angle down but sometimes a bit different.

Only regs I can find deal with charted restrictions or the VIA phraseology snafus.

Thanks

A second crossing restriction will not cancel the first one.

Thanks, that's what I thought as well as it makes the most sense and the safest approach. I get challenged on it occasionally and would like to find something that backs it up. I have yet to find anything that says a second clearance invalidates the first one. I think it may be a few people who are confusing it with charted vs non-charted clearances or being vectored off the star/rejoining.
