Fond memories, I was there. It was right after I finished my PPL training.

I was there for the USAF Thunderbirds in 1997, great show...YXU used to put on amazing shows through the '80's and early 90's...damn Soviet Union Collapse...at least they could have stayed together so the US and Canadian governments would continue to throw endless amounts of cash at the AF and put on these amazing shows. There was 1 in YXU for what I believe was the 25th Anniversary of the F-4 and they had about 50-60 Phantoms from the USAF alone on static.
Sorry for the hijack, that just brought back some great memories of shows.

Whoa, seeing that many F-4s in once spot, very cool...

Re: abbotsford airshow 1968!
My first airshow was Abby '86 when I was 7 and that is where I fell in love with aviation.
They had the Concorde, the Harrier, and the SR-71. For national aerobatic teams (going solely from memory) they had the Blue Angels (flying A4s) the Italian Frecci Tricolori (who were the best perfomers IMHO), the Brazillian Esquadrilha da Fumaca, the Patrouille Acrobatique de France, and of course the Snowbirds.
I also went in '93 for a very wet airshow where they had they brought out some of the Eastern Bloc stuff like the AN-124. I saw the Russian Knights, the Ukranian Falcons (Su-27s), and the F-117.
Saw Jimmy Franklin's last performance at Abby in 2004 with the jet powered Waco. Pretty impressive stuff!
After that they seemed to go downhill. Last time I went was in 2006 and I came away pretty disappointed.

I was there at the tender as of 7 in 92. I still have the show magazine.
