A friend of mine flew a 206 from Colorado to Alaska and used the suction cup. I still don't trust it, since it has randomly fallen off mid flight in the E170(cockpit).

I used the adhesive sticky that came with the camera for the strut on the Stinson. It works really well, the only issue is finding 2 connections in order to make it level, rather than following the angle of the strut.

Pop n Fresh, thank you kindly for the invite. I do plan on making a cross-continent trip at some point. However for the time being, the US Dept of Defense has kindly asked me to stay in the South Eastern US for the next year or so.
I have an attachment for my helmet's NVG (night vision) mount. I'll have to sweet talk my instructor in order to take video (generally not allowed), so I cant promise anything.

Hey Shiny Side Up!

You busted over my house at 1:37 on the last video. I actually saw you go over. You were at exactly 500' agl. No lower, I swear! The Great Slave choppers have been irritating the locals, have you got any calls about them? Especially the heavies. They have been auto rotating at Black Diamond all last week.

Hmm, I was doing my best to weave my way between as to not be right over anyone's house, though technically I was either taking off or landing during that entire sequence. I haven't gotten any calls which is surprising. I was actually going to add Cu Nim in after Boulton farm, since pretty much off the runway, you're on right base for 25. There was a helo practicing an autorotation there, so I decided not to get in his way. Though I did debate trying to catch him on camera, I figure he might not have appreciated it.

Actually the fly by was the highlight of my day! Have you been into CBD8 yet? If you can handle CRS3, then it should be no problem :-)

Ps Got that runway plowed yet?

The roll bar mount fits reasonably on that chunk of metal that functions as a tail spring on the 180. Careful not to thump it on the tail too hard.

Nice to see all that flying around High River. My last flight n Canada, before leaving 16 years ago, was from High River. Thanks for the memories.

I've used the suction and the roll bar. I personally liked the roll bar mount more. Just seems more stable and trustworthy.

The roll bar mount didn't budge ever.

Neat stuff, I like how you can see the trail of the prop in some of the shots. Did you film that with several cameras, or are they taken from several different flights? If you used several cameras did you find it reasonably easy to operate them remotely?

I just have the one camera. A majority of the footage is from one day with multiple legs. I also do not have the remote for it so once it was attached and rolling there was no stopping till on the dock again. I've been able to use the GoPro app on my iPhone a few times to turn it on and off however with sporadic coverage up north didn't work to often.

Quick question to all of you.

I got a GoPro to record my solos and flight training so I can look back and see what I could improve on. Now, my question is,

Wouldn't mounting a camera externally violate the CARs incase TC decided to show up, or if they watched videos online? I really want to record stuff and upload it to family and friends, I just don't want to break any laws here.

Personally I don't worry about it but I suppose its possible.

Either way, this is with the suction mount inside, which also might be against the rules, but then 99% of pilots are breaking that one these days with all sorts of devices clamped to everything inside. I hate stuff mounted on the yoke, its in the way.

Going to visit iflyforpie.

That was a pretty big bounce on that first touch down, instantly you were back at altitude. :P

We might have to investigate some campgrounds around there this summer.

I think I need a better way of using it for hand held shots.

I think that must be the turbo boost. You can see in the mountains it looks like he's going at about 400kts.
