TrailerParkBoy wrote:$36 x 80 hrs = $2880 then subtract 30% taxes

= $2016 minus Pension and Benefits (for family) ~$500

= $1516 per month

Then add perdium per month $1000 and subtract the breakfast lunch dinner coffee at starbucks and beer. If you're like me you can subtract $800, but if you brown bag it your grand total each month of:

Max $2516
You won't be paying 30% tax; the federal rate on the lowest bracket is 15%, and provincial taxes range from 4 to 12% on that income. Even then, you'll probably get all of that back on your tax return, especially if you can deduct pension or RRSP contributions. You can request that less tax be deducted from your paycheque, especially if you're certain you won't end up owing anything, and on that income with any amount of deductions it's not likely you'd owe a dime. The one nice thing about making an income that low is that you get to keep more of it.

Then try to avoid Quebec where tax is 16%. We are splitting hairs with this debate...and the hairs are thin enough at this salary!

+1.
If you go with my estimate of 3200$ a month, that's very realistic. That's what I made in my first year (2 years ago?)

But I think benefits and parking and union deductions are around 300 or so a month, combined.

Around 1500$ every two weeks. 36$ an hour, do the math. 800-900 per diems a month (at the least.)

Doing the math, this isn't even $1500 gross every two weeks: 36x80=$2880 per month, times 12 months =$34,560 per year, divided by 26 pays= $1329.23 Gross bi-weekly.

Enter $34,560 into a take home pay calculator for Ontario as an example, =$1068.00 Bi-weekly BEFORE unions dues etc. which someone said is $300 per month, =$918.00 take home.

Better start delivering pizzas on your days off. :-)

Is it true that new hires are being told 2 years to upgrade if willing to go left on a q400 at Jazz? Or if not upgraded you'd get ac ?

Sounds a bit odd.

If anything the left seat of the classic(DH8-100/300)would be available long before the -400, because the salary on the classic is capped

Thanks guys that's what I thought... This individual has been known for blowing steam before and I just wanted to confirm those sources, cause if true would probably change the prospective of many that are writing of Jazz atm.

So is it true as well that any Jazz new hire will get a shot at AC? Or is that just hearsay? I just posted in another thread mentioning that all that has ever been publicly announced is that 80% of AC ground schools will consist of all the people in the PML. Meaning anyone else has nothing in writing. Not even that AC will go for all CPA carriers after PML is exhausted. Unless you guys have some updated info from the town hall meetings and etc.

Good indications that current new hires post CPA signing will be able to re populate another list or that there will be another PML.

Confirmed directly by AC executives. Once the Jazz PML v1.0 is dried up a new PML v2.0 will be created including "all the Express Regionals" to make up the 80% hiring. What we don't know is if that includes tier 3 as well as tier 2 also they eluded that the PML v2.0 will be drawn from based on ratio of company size. Ex: obviously Jazz has more pilots therefore they will be the largest part of the 80% "hiring from Express".

But to answer the question, yes this comes directly from AC. If you are hired at Jazz AFTER the new contract, you will be in PML 2.0, if you're CURRENTLY at Sky Regional you will be part of the PML 2.0 in order of seniority. Don't forget it's just a guarantee of an interview. Nothing more.

So how are these interviews going to be conducted? Are they done chronologically from top seniority and then progressively down to the bottom?
